Hey Sunshine! We are Sparkles and Vintage, an event design & floral company based in Los Angeles! We are so glad you are here, and couldn’t be more excited to chat with you about your upcoming celebration!
FUN FACT: Did you know that SAV was created out of necessity? In 2012, while Blaire (our owner) was planning her own wedding she had a very unfortunate time. This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life and to plan it even better! Many things weren’t going to plan from the beginning- she had a hard time connecting with vendors, getting responses via email and phone, and when going to an event rental showroom was completely ignored- and walked around for over 45 mins with her friend! No one greeted her, no one asked her what she was celebrating, if she had questions, nothing- and folks the store was empty! And guys, the plot thickens… after this, Blaire unfortunately had two vendors not work out 36 hours before a wedding! The venue and photographer!! *cue the tears
After these experiences, Blaire took matters into her own hands and decided to DIY everything! She DIY’d her wedding backdrop and hand decorated faux florals, painted bottles, and decor, collected vintage chairs, tables, plates, glassware, and decor on craigslist and estate sales! The only vendors hired were Sky’s Gourment Tacos, and a few chairs/heaters- from Imperial Party Rentals- after all it was a midweek December wedding! With the help of some amazing friends, they pulled together getting a venue, decorated the private home, and went the extra mile to make magic happen for her. #blessed #thankful
Upon this experience, SAV was born out of necessity and desperation- Blaire decided- if you can’t hire someone, then do it yourself mentality! Inventory had been created and collected, and a mini rental company was born, and coordination of orchestrating the weddings events were also born.
From that day forward in January 2013, Blaire vowed to never allow a client to be treated less than, nor go through the experiences she did, not while she was around! You are good enough, the wedding you want is perfect, and you will forever have a bulldog in the wedding industry to look out for those red flag/ or non communicative vendors. Blaire has done over 75 weddings now, what started as a horrific time of her life, she turned into a butterfly. Would she do DIY or recommended it again? Not a chance! But did it work for her at the time, YES! The takeaway- hire a seasoned professional, read reviews, see what people are saying and see if their work is consistent, and Instagram will become your best friend!
Now, Fast forward to 2019, and Sparkles and Vintage has been named a four-time The Knot Best of Weddings - Wedding Planners of LA recipient, and now inducted into The Knot Hall of Fame.
